Aerial Speed Patrols

CREATED Jul. 1, 2012

On the ground and in the air--Wisconsin State Patrol are still using aerial patrols to catch speeders despite the cost. According to reports, last year state patrol spent about $54,000 flying three planes for 453 hours--nabbing about 3,200 speeders.

The plane circles overhead letting troopers on the ground know when someone is speeding so they can make the stop. Troopers believe the planes are effective, especially in construction zones.
