Update: Arrest Made in Murder
UPDATE: A Green Bay man is accused of murdering his live-in girlfriend. 31-year-old Richard Gardipee is charged with first degree intentional homicide.
Saturday night, officers found Gardipee's girlfriend dead in the basement of this home on the 900-block of Christiana Street on Green Bay's west side. Police are not releasing the victim’s name or how she was killed.
Police say Gardipee went to a friend’s house crying and covered in blood. When Gardipee allegedly told his friend he hurt his girlfriend, the friend called police. Soon after, officers found her dead in the couple's basement apartment.
“He turned around and started running towards the house the officers stopped him, detained him in handcuffs and searched the home and located the female victim,” said Cpt. Paul Ebel of the Green Bay Police.
Police say the couple began arguing and the fight turned violent. The victim's 4-year-old son was home at the time. Officers say Gardipee locked the boy in the bathroom during the alleged murder.
It's a crime police say did not have to end like this, with a family grieving and child without a mother.
