MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.--Six year old Charlie Knuth has pneumonia according to his mother's latest entry in the Caring Bridge Journal. " Even though the Ex-ray of his chest showed us nothing but pristine healthy lungs, the Cat-scan revealed much much more. His lungs were full of infection." Trisha Knuth writes.
Charlie suffers from a rare and deadly skin disease that causes painful blistering. The Darboy Wisconsin child had a stem-cell transplant in 2010 and showed signs of improvement over the last year and a half. But this latest setback has his family afraid for the worst. " Charlie is still very very sick;" Trisha writes in her journal. "When he was younger he would fuss, fight, and scream when he was in pain. Now that he is older it is so much harder because he can tell me about his pain, He can describe it and this just tears my heart to pieces."
Trisha Knuth says Charlie was running a 104* to 105* fever for most of the week. But it has dropped 101* since Thursday. He also has been moved from the pediatric ICU into a private room.
