GREEN BAY, WI - Visitors at Green Bay's Heritage Hill Historical Park had a chance to experience the Civil War.
Attendees at Monday's celebration were able to listen to the Gettysburg Address and learn how the women of Brown County participated in the Civil War. A walk through the Fort Howard buildings showed people how soldiers enlisted to fight.
Charles Pelky, Executive Director of Heritage Hill says, "Today is our Memorial Day Civil War remembrance. And today we are talking about the impact the Civil War had on the area."
Along with learning about Brown County men who fought in the Civil War, visitors had the opportunity to write letters to soldiers currently serving. Those letters will be sent in care packages later this summer.
