Grant Helps Combat Drunk Driving
NBC26 News Team
A state grant is helping boost Outagamie County's effort to combat drunk driving. The 30-thousand-dollar grant is made possible through the state patrol's Bureau of Transportation safety. The funding will go towards buying five cameras that will pin onto officers and a hand-held breathalizer unit and supplies.
Tom Nelson says, "The jury is going to be able to see from the vantage point, perspective of that arresting officer, so we believe this is going to be a very useful tool when it comes to enforcing our drunk driving laws." The grant period runs from October 2011 thru September 2012.
