A major expansion, for a state trucking company in the Fox Valley.
Roehl Transport, based in Marshfield celebrated its brand new, multi-million dollar trucking facility with an open house today. The tough economy had slowed the company's expansion plans, but now, the Town of Menasha terminal, will help the transportation giant compete in Northeast Wisconsin, and beyond.
In just four months, the workforce at this new trucking terminal, has more than doubled.
"We've also added fifteen brand new jobs and then transferred some other jobs in from other locations. We have about 35 employees that call this facility home," said Greg Koepel, Vice President of Workforce Development and Administration, for Roehl Transport, Inc.
The five million dollar facility, is a full-service trucking terminal. For Roehl Transport, the Town of Menasha site was the obvious choice.
"Right here in the greater-Appleton area, we're centrally located. We have wonderful amenities and services with the mall and all the buildings around the mall," said Koepel.
As Roehl Transport continues to roll on, business expansion in the area is a welcomed sight. For leaders in the Town of Menasha, it fits right into their long-term plans.
"The extended public water, sewer, utilities out to this area, not only allows them to be successful, but promotes the expansion of the rest of this region," said George Dearborn, Jr., Town of Menasha Director of Community Development.
It's an expansion that has been slowed by the tough economy.
"They originally planned to move in this earlier, but of course when we saw the down-turn that happened, they delayed. But we worked with them, through that process, and found a good solution for them," said Dearborn.
So while the company celebrates today,
"This will only grow in the future, we see this as a focal point for the growth of the company," said Koepel.
