GREEN BAY - Many have speculated that Brett Favre's number wouldn't be retired until well after General Manager Ted Thompson had moved on as well. Now it looks like that might not be the case.
In comments to the media today, Thompson said he fully supports plans to retire Favre's number.
"I think it means a lot to the Packers for Brett Favre to be remembered in a good light. I have no objections at all. I'm thrilled," Thompson said.
Team President Mark Murphy has stated previously that Favre's jersey will not be retired until at least the 2014 season.
