This year, the Green Bay Packers have switched to more of a morning routine for their practice schedule.
With rare exception, the team has started every practice during the morning hours - 8:20 or 11:15 a.m. practices for the most part.
"Sort of like getting up and cutting your grass in the morning, get it done and get it out of the way," said Thompson on Tuesday.
The team had done a number of night practices in past years, but Thompson and Packers coach Mike McCarthy scheduled just one this preseason.
"I'm not a big fan. It's just a personal thing," said Thompson.
However, he understands that with a team that tends to play a large number of prime time games, nighttime practices are necessary.
"I think having an evening practice is important so guys can get ready for night games and things like that."
