GREEN BAY - The Packers are not deep in numbers at the safety position, but they are strong in leadership.
That's because Morgan Burnett is emerging in this his fourth NFL season.
Like a quarterback on offense, communication and intangibles are job one for the leader of the defensive secondary.
"As a safety, that's part of your job, and every day, I challenge myself to go out and try to do my job to the best of my ability," said Burnett.
"I have to be loud and decisive with my checks and calls, be a quarterback of the back end, and make sure we get lined up and ready to play."
"I think Morgan Burnett not only (upgraded )his play. He upgraded in his exertion of leadership and command in the back end which is critical in our defense," said Packers coach Mike McCarthy.
"He's doing exactly what he needs to do."
Former Packers safety Nick Collins blossomed into an All-Pro his third year into the league.
In this his fourth year in the league, Burnett appears to be ready to do the same, for this group of Green Bay Packers.
