GREEN BAY - It's been often discussed this preseason that the Green Bay Packers are devoid of locker room leaders on their roster after Charles Woodson and Donald Driver's departures, among others.
It seems that Clay Matthews wants to change that.
He told ESPN that the team had "come at a crossroads" on defensive leadership, but he wants to take over that role.
“I believe it’s the natural progression of myself and what I want to be and the legacy I want to leave,"said Matthews to Storm
"Ultimately, we’ll see where it goes, but you’re going to get a definite change of this defense with me in charge.”
This season will definitely be the test of leadership growth on a squad where Aaron Rodgers, who hasn't even turned 30, is the most tenured Packers player.
Pass that test, and who knows what the ceiling can be for the team this year.
