Hunter Hayes 'Invisible' video (WATCH)

By Stephen L. Betts. CREATED Mar 13, 2014

It probably won't take anyone who views Hunter Hayes' new video for "Invisible" very long recognize themselves in one or more of the characters who literally fade away while everything around them continues. Hunter, who walks through dark city streets alone throughout the clip as he sings, was inspired to write it because of his own feelings of being an outsider.

"I was a total geek, I was a total nerd and I just didn't have a place," Hunter explains. "I still am both of those things and I'm proud of that, but it took me a while to realize it's OK to be proud of that."

Of special note is the young child staring into an empty refrigerator, and then an empty pizza box, heartbreaking images that were included in part because of the singer-songwriter's involvement with Child Hunger Ends Here, to which a donation is made from every iTunes download of the song.

"Invisible" is the first single from "Storyline," Hunter's second album, which will be released May 6.
