CMA Awards 2013: George Strait, Alan Jackson team for special tribute

By Stephen L. Betts. CREATED Oct 14, 2013

It's billed as "Country Music’s Biggest Night" and it just keeps getting bigger! The CMA Awards telecast will feature a once-in-a-lifetime pairing of two of country's legends paying special tribute to a true icon. George Strait and Alan Jackson will perform together to remember the music of George Jones, who passed away in April of this year. "The Possum," as Jones was affectionately known, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992.

George Strait and Alan Jackson are the two top nominees in CMA awards history, with a staggering 163 nominations and 38 awards between them. "King George" is also nominated for 2013 Entertainer of the Year, an award he has earned twice before.

Also on tap for the star-studded live telecast: performances by Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Brad and Carrie will share hosting duties for the sixth consecutive year. Tickets for this year's CMA Awards sold out in record time.

The 47th Annual CMA Awards air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
