Mystery solved of creepy porcelain California dolls
A mystery involving creepy porcelain dolls in California has been solved.
The dolls simply began showing up on the doorsteps of young girls in San Clemente and no one knew where they came from, according to ABC News.
The girls' parents were spooked because many of the dolls reportedly resembled their daughters, who were all around 10 years old.
It happened at least eight times since June 16, and the local police department was baffled. There did not appear to be any connection between the families and that made the investigation difficult.
Finally, on Thursday, the mystery was solved.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department released a statement saying that they had made contact with an elderly female adult who admitted that she had placed the dolls on the porches of various residences.
The woman told investigators that she went to church with many of the families that she gave the dolls to and that she was just trying to do something nice, according to the New York Daily News.
Apparently, the woman is a doll enthusiast and wanted to get rid of her collection. Police are calling the bizarre gifts an act of goodwill.
