Construction will start Wednesday on a new elementary school and facility for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield.

Edited from a press release from Springfield Public Schools:

Springfield Public Schools will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for Sherwood Elementary School at 3 p.m., July 16. The new school will be located at 2524 S. Golden. This project is funded by the April 2013 bond initiative.

The new facility will be the home base of shared space collaboration between Boys and Girls Clubs Springfield and Springfield Public Schools. Upon completion of the new facility, 5,500 square feet will be occupied as dedicated BGC space and shared use space will include the gymnasium, restrooms, cafeteria, library, playground, music room, art room and computer lab. This will be the first Boys & Girls Club facility in the State of Missouri adjoined with a public school.
