By Lynne Roberts. CREATED Mar 17, 2014

Business and property owners in Springfield are invited to an open house to learn more about plans to expand Republic Road to five lanes.

Edited from a press release from the City of Springfield:

Public Works staff will host an open house to discuss construction for the Republic Road widening project 5-7 p.m., Tuesday March 18 at Seminole Baptist Church, 4221 S. National.

The open house is intended for the public, business owners, and property owners to meet the project team, which will consist of City staff and contractor Hartman & Co.

Construction for the project is expected to begin in April, with the relocation of gas and water utilities. Plans are to widen Republic Road to five lanes, from the traffic signal at the entrance of Chase to Fremont Avenue. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months.

Funding for this project is from the 1/4-cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax and the 1/8-cent Transportation Sales Tax.
