By Larry Wright. CREATED Jan 28, 2014

Springfield will begin cracking down on panhandlers.

City council passed a bill to keep people from panhandling curbside and in the median and several feet away from traffic.

A pair of other bills passed by council ban smoking and skateboarding in Park Central Square.

Another issue gives a desk and computer to an analyst from the Missouri National Guard to work with Springfield police helping connect the dots in local drug investigations.

A bill regulating free food that's handed out was tabled so task force members can work more with the groups providing that food.
