Several new recreation and athletic facilities are almost complete at Missouri State University.
The additions include a new soccer field, an academic center, a field for both field hockey and lacrosse, a sand volley ball court, and a renovated football stadium.
Yesterday, the Betty and Bobby Allison South Soccer and Track Stadium was officially opened to the public.
Director of Athletic Communications, Rick Kindhart, says it’s brought a new sense of pride to all of campus and is important for gaining and keeping students at the college.
The money for the improvements was generated by a fee students voted to pay last year, as well as donations from the community.
The fee, called a bear fee, generates $1.6 million dollars a year.
The last of the sports renovations are scheduled to be complete by September 11th.
