Lawrence County Route 96 Resurfacing, Shoulder Project Getting Underway

Lawrence County – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic and short-term traffic delays on Route 96 between Halltown and Phelps when a project to resurface the highway begins the week of September 30, Department of Transportation said. 

The work includes building two-foot wide shoulders along Route 96 and adding edgeline rumble stripes. 

The work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

During the work, flaggers will be on the road directing drivers through the work zone.  Also, a pilot vehicle will lead traffic through the work zone. 

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

Prime Contractor: Blevins Asphalt Construction Company, Mount Vernon 
  
Construction Cost: $1.6 million 
  
Completion: Nov. 1, 2013.
