Lance Lynn Named Game 4 Starter For St. Louis Cardinals In NLCS

By Don Louzader. CREATED Oct 12, 2013

The morning after St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn threw two scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, Manager Mike Matheny has announced the righthander will get the ball to start Game 4 in Los Angeles.

"Last night, we just had to kind of watch and see how things progressed," Matheny said. "The intent was to try to get Lance a couple innings. It would be similar to what his side day would be, and then we'd have Shelby (Miller) ready to go as long as we needed him to go. Shelby did get hot, but still should be available to pitch today. But Lance will be our Game 4 starter."

The Cardinals send rookie Michael Wacha to the mound in Game 2, which is scheduled to get underway at 3:07 this afternoon.

After a cloudy morning in St. Louis, the sun is out and game time temperatures are expected to be in the mid 70's.

KTTS News will have complete coverage of the National League Championship Series, with game recaps, player and manager reaction, and photos on KTTS.com.
