Two suspects are in custody after an assault near Elm and Scenic in Springfield. Police Lieutenant Robert Pitts tells KTTS News initial reports were that the victim had been beaten with a pipe.
"When the police got here, the victim had not been beaten with a pipe. He had wounds he suffered probably from a sharp instrument," says Lieutenant Pitts.
Pitts says the man had some deep cuts to his back, which aren't believed to be life-threatening.
One suspect was arrested not far from the scene. A K-9 unit was called in to help find the second suspect. He was picked up a few blocks away.
Pitts says the attack probably wasn't random and may be part of an ongoing dispute.
