Joplin Tornado Pictures Being Handed Over At Joplin Museum Complex
JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - A group that collected thousands of photos after the Joplin tornado is planning a ceremony this week in the city.
The National Disaster Photo Rescue collected more than 35,000 photos after the deadly May 2011 twister. Ultimately, more than 17,000 of those images were reunited with more than 700 families.
During Friday's ceremony at the Joplin Museum Complex, the group will present the remaining photographs, documents and personal items to be archived. Those wishing to claim photos in the future will be able to do so with the help of museum staff.
