A man from Joplin, who helped people with shelter from the May 2011 tornado at the former St. John's Regional Medical Center, will be honored for his heroics from the Boys Scouts.
Matt Hutchison remembers telling those people needing help that "he was an Eagle Scout" and that "we're going to be ok." Hutchison will receive the Honor Medal with Crossed Palms, the Boy Scouts' highest lifesaving action award.
The award will be presented on September 14th. 277 medals have been presented since 1924.
