From a press release from EaglePitcher Technologies...
Joplin, MO -- EaglePicher Technologies, LLC broke ground today on a new 6,000 square foot addition to their facility located at the Crossroads Industrial Park. The new office addition will allow space for 20 additional jobs immediately and 40 new jobs over the next year. The facility could accommodate more based on market response.
The building is owned by The Joplin Regional Economic Development Alliance and was originally leased to EaglePicher seven years ago to support growth when the EaglePicher former parent corporation was in bankruptcy. The new parent company, OM Group, supports moving the Texas medical division operation to the Joplin region.
Randy Moore, EaglePicher Technologies, LLC president said,EaglePicher would like to thank the Joplin Regional Economic Development Alliance (JREDA) for working with us on this expansion project. It is an important step in EaglePichers long-term strategic plan. Moore continued, These jobs are engineering and high-end production jobs that bring better than average wages to the community. We have the opportunity to take advantage of the strong Joplin region workforce.
We have worked with EaglePicher on the opportunity for the past nine months. As they evaluated the opportunity to bring the medical implant battery division to Joplin, we appreciate EaglePichers faith in our community and in our region, said Rob OBrian, JREDA president.
Mayor Pro Tem Bill Scearce noted, EaglePicher is one of the oldest manufacturing companies in Joplin with a history that goes back to Joplins earliest mining days. Their commitment to our community is appreciated.
Dalton-Killinger Construction Company, Inc., a Joplin-headquartered business, will do construction. Dalton-Killinger is one of several general contractors that supports JREDA and bid on this expansion opportunity.
