887 Vehicles Stopped During Overnight Checkpoint In Greene County

Greene County Sheriff's deputies and officers with the Central Ozarks Regional DWI Task Force stopped an average of two hundred vehicles per hour during a sobriety checkpoint this weekend.

On Friday, July 25, 2014, Deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office along with several agencies represented by the Central Ozarks Regional DWI Task Force including Officers from the Springfield Police Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Ozark Police Department and the Fordland Police Department hosted a DWI Checkpoint in the area of S Campbell and W Farm Rd 192 in southwestern Greene County. The multi-agency group worked diligently to remove impaired drivers in an effort to make our roadways safer.

887 vehicles were checked through the checkpoint from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am. The results of the checkpoint are:

5 – DWI Arrests

4 – Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked Arrests

2 – Felony Driving While License Revoked Arrests

1 – No Operator’s License Arrest

2 – Felony Drug Arrests

2 – Misdemeanor Drug Arrests

1 – Drug Paraphernalia Arrest

1 – Leaving the Scene of an Accident Arrest

Participating agencies were paid through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The Central Ozarks Regional DWI Task Force and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind people drive responsibly and stay sober.
