Flooding runs through a backyard in Nixa
Severe storms moving across the Ozarks Saturday afternoon not only brought large hail and cloud to ground lightening, but up to nine inches of rain and flash flooding in south Springfield to Nixa.
The National Weaher Service has issued a Flash Flood Emergency, the highest possible level of alert for southern Springfield.
Many areas between south Springfield and Nixa are now reporting as much as nine inches of rain came down in just a few hours. That is causing major problems on local roadways and in low-lying areas.
KTTS Assistant News Director Nancy Simpson was chasing the storms in Christian County and says deputies were trying to help people in several spots as flood water rushed up to the doors on drivers' cars.
A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for Greene and Christian Counties until 5PM.
