(MissouriNET) - Looking forward to taking the boat out this summer? The Highway Patrol says now's the perfect time to brush up on boating safety.
Lieutenant Eldon Wolfe warns about boaters fatigue, which can happen when someone's not used to the waves, sun and glare. He says the symptoms are nearly identical to drunk boating.
Wolfe says anyone born after 1984 has to take boating safety classes before getting in the driver's seat.
"Also the law affects people who get arrested for boating while intoxicated, or CNI or negligent operation. They're required to take the course too before they can operate a vessel," says Wolfe.
Those classes are taught throughout the state. Click here to learn more.
