Springfield Police Identify Homicide Victim
Springfield Police investigate after a man was stabbed in the chest in the 600 block of south New.

On April 17, 2013 at 8:57 pm, Springfield Police Officers responded to 603 S. New Avenue in reference to a report that a man had been stabbed at that location.
When officers arrived, they located a male behind the residence with an apparent stab wound to the chest. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The deceased male has been identified as 29-year-old Curtis Storey of Springfield.
According to witnesses, Curtis Storey became involved in an altercation with his brother. During that altercation, Curtis Storey was stabbed.
Curtis Storey’s brother was arrested at the scene for Murder and later questioned by investigators. He has been released pending further investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review when it is completed. An autopsy will be conducted later this week. Curtis Storey’s next of kin have been notified.
The charge announced herein is merely an accusation and Storey is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
