Trucker From California Charged With Double Fatal In Republic

By Nancy Simpson. CREATED Mar 27, 2013

A truck driver from California has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, accused of causing a crash that killed two men on Highway 60 on the eastern edge of Republic.

Prosecutors say Lei Sun was going 59.5 miles an hour at the time of the crash.  He hit a line of vehicles, smashing and killing Corey Gresham from Macon and Lawrence Coan junior from Kimberling City.

Court records say Lei Sun's log book shows he has driven more than the allotted 70 hours within the past seven days.

Court records also say Lei Sun is Chinese and his immigration is currently on appeal status.
