Potential Winter Storm Could Impact Area This Week

CREATED Feb. 18, 2013

...A POTENTIAL WINTER STORM MAY IMPACT THE AREA WEDNESDAY
 NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING...

THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR A WINTER STORM TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE
CENTRAL U.S. WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY AND AFFECT PORTIONS OF
THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.

A COLD AND DRY AIR MASS WILL BE IN PLACE ACROSS THE AREA AS WARM
MOIST AIR TRIES TO OVERRIDE THIS SHALLOW AIR MASS. A WINTRY MIX OF
PRECIPITATION WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE AREA INCLUDING FREEZING
RAIN...SLEET...AND LIGHT SNOW. THE HIGHER RISK FOR ICE ACCUMULATIONS
WILL BE NORTHEAST OF A LINE FROM NEAR PITTSBURG KANSAS TO MONETT
AND BRANSON MISSOURI. TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE UPPER 20S TO
AROUND FREEZING WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING.

ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY ACROSS CENTRAL
MISSOURI AND THE EASTERN MISSOURI OZARKS. MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF
SLEET AND SNOW WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE GENERALLY NORTHEAST OF THE
 SPRINGFIELD AREA.

THIS IS STILL A DEVELOPING STORM SYSTEM AND THE DETAILS ON THE TRACK
 AND RESULTING IMPACTS REMAIN UNCERTAIN.
