Candidates Named In Special House Election
MONETT, Mo. (AP) - A one-time congressional candidate and a former state lawmaker will compete in a special election to fill a seat in the Missouri House.
The vacancy in southwest Missouri's 157th House District occurred when Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Republican incumbent Don Ruzicka to the Board of Probation and Parole. The district covers nearly all of Lawrence County.
The Monett Times reports Republicans have nominated Mike Moon, of Ash Grove, as their candidate in the April 2 special election. Moon lost the Republican primary for the 7th Congressional District last August to incumbent Billy Long.
The Democratic candidate is Charles Dake. He won a February 2006 special election for a state House seat but served just a few months and lost in the following general election.
