Downtown Bistro Market May Close If New Walmart Is Built

CREATED Jan. 25, 2013

The Bistro Market in downtown Springfield is worried that new competition may force them to close the doors.

The concept grocery store and restaurant operated by Price Cutter has been a hit so far for folks living downtown.

Company officials say that if a new Walmart Neighborhood Market is approved by City Council and decides to build nearby at Campbell and Grand, they may not be able to keep up.

That new Walmart received the thumbs up from the Planning and Zoning Committee earlier this week after revised proposals.

It is set to go before Council on February 4th.
