Springfield will have a 5th Walmart neighborhood market if city council gives approval at its February 11th meeting.
Thursday night, the city's planning and zoning commission gave its blessing to put the market at Grand and Campbell. Crystal Kincaid says she's excited and the area needs the market.
Walmart made changes to the plans that the committee asked for in regards to street access.
Opponents say the market will force smaller stores to close.
Now, that 4 hour meeting got a little contentious with opponents trying to shout down speakers saying traffic problems would be even worse.
One woman was ejected from the meeting by police and several other people were warned they would be escorted out, too.
Eric Taylor is with Price Cutter and says their stores have done well with the other Walmart markets being around, but the last thing the area needs is more competition.
And Taylor went on to say the Bistro Market near downtown would close if the Walmart is allowed to open at Campbell and Grand.
City council will vote February 11th.
