Neighbors of Taylor Swift's Westerly, Rhode Island, beachfront home are reportedly angry at the 24-year-old singer for repairing a stone sea wall at her home damaged by Hurricane Sandy last year.
E! picks up the story
today (first reported by local paper The Westerly Sun
in mid-November), writing that "there's been some misguided anger" towards Swift after a local opinion column "claimed the construction was being done on a 'public' beach without 'one single permit from the town.'" Swift's property borders a public right-of-way to the shore
However, the opinion column's claims turned out not to be true. Local officials say Swift's repair at her Bluff Avenue home is being done after proper permits were issued last month. The repairs include replacing unsafe rocks and re-settling existing rocks, E! reports.
The rock wall is popular among locals, and the repairs are not interfering with their access to East Beach, not that there's likely much beach-bound foot traffic ithis time of year, other than some isolated dog walkers and hearty surfers.
