Part-time Rhode Island resident Taylor Swift made a surprise visit to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence on Monday. The Tennessean reports that the pop-country superstar was accompanied by her father and according to hospital spokeswoman Jill Reuter, she played a song for children in a psychiatric unit at the health-care facility. (Watch video of her visit above.)
The five-hour visit, Reuter said, was one of the longest the hospital has ever had. Taylor decided Sunday night to spend time with patients at the hospital and her representatives asked hospital officials to keep it quiet.
Monday's visit was the second in recent weeks. Late last month, the "Red" singer spent time with young patients at a children's cancer center in New York City. Pictures and video of the singer were posted to the Facebook page of one of the patients, 17-year-old Shelby Huff. There were no media outlets present during that visit either.
