SM@RTConnections teaches parents, kids about dangers of Internet

By Joyce Lupiani. CREATED Mar 31, 2014

SM@RTConnections is a local organization that hopes to educate parents and children about the dangers of the Internet and sexting. It also hopes to teach young people how to become good digital citizens.

Chris Holman, a detective with the Henderson Police Department's Computer Crimes Unit, spent the last 3 years creating SM@RTConnections.

Holman put together the program on his own with some help from Leadership Henderson's Class of 2014.

The organization hopes to educate the Henderson community and Southern Nevada on how to make safe choices while online, including communicating through electronic means such as social media, smartphones, gaming systems and other devices.

A bowling tournament titled Hero Bowl will take place from 1:30 to 5 p.m. April 27 at the Wildfire Casino & Lanes in Henderson. The purpose of the bowling tournament is to raise awareness and funds for the SM@RTConnections. To learn more about the event, click here.
