Two schools added to Zoom program in Clark County

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The new school year comes with plenty of exciting changes, and that can be seen at CP Squires Elementary School, which is now a Zoom School.

A Zoom School is a designation to get special funding for schools with a high number of English Language Learners.

Zoom is part of a state pilot program.

Last year, it was implemented at 14 Clark County elementary schools, but this is the first year at CP Squires.

Officials said the program has been very successful at other schools.

"We are very pleased with our early data, nothing long-term, but the short-term has been phenomenal. We've seen students increase anywhere from 1 to 2 grade levels," said Stavan Corbett, CCSD Trustee.

CP Squires is one of two new schools this year in Zoom. The district is looking at 17 other schools for the future.
