Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Quest Preparatory Academy held a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday for its new downtown campus.

Quest is opening in the former St. Joseph's Catholic School, which closed last year, with only a few minor changes.

"We did not want to do away with the renaissance that was here and the education that happened here in the past, and so it was our effort. We just basically gave it a face lift," said David Olive, governing board president.

The new campus is almost at capacity, with just under 250 students.

Quest has been in Las Vegas since 2008. Administrators said they're excited to expand their reach to downtown.

The school is a public, tuition-free charter school with several locations around Las Vegas.
