Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Local families and seniors who may be in need of a little extra help can shop for some delicious items free of charge on Aug. 21.
Lutheran Social Services of Nevada’s Open Air Market will be held 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 21 in the LSSN parking lot, 73 Spectrum Boulevard, near North Mojave Road and Stewart Avenue.
LSSN hosts the Open Air Markets four times per year, and the special event is open to the public. The market features fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, and more.
Derek Felder says, "It's like a real farmer's market but it's free. It's designed to get food out to the public they won't be able to buy at the store. If their benefits run out in the middle of the month, this gives them a boost until they get paid again."
LSSN distributes approximately 20,000 meals per month at its food pantry, which has a supermarket feel.
The pantry is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Seniors may access the pantry once per month, and non-seniors once every other month.
The phone number for Lutheran Social Services is 702-639-1730.
