North Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- A new VA women's clinic opened on Friday in North Las Vegas. It will offer specialized care for our veterans.
Nevada Sen. Harry Reid was on hand for the official ribbon cutting at the Southern Nevada VA Medical Center on North Pecos.
Last month, Contact 13 revealed the local VA's shortcomings in providing quality women's health care.
The clinic specializes in breast and cervical cancer screenings, maternity care and military sexual trauma.
"As these veterans come home and come to work with us, we want to give them the specialized treatment and care they deserve and that they need," said Bill Caron, associate director of the new center.
Officials said they'll serve more than 5,400 female veterans through the clinic.
