Chicago's 'Mayor of Chinatown' bringing restaurant to Palms

Chicago continues its invasion of Las Vegas with another restaurant from the Windy City.

Lao Sze Chuan, an authentic Chinese Chinese Sze Chuan restaurant owned by renowned Chicago chef Tony Hu, is scheduled to open in late August at the Palms hotel-casino.

Lao Sze Chuan will offer a robust menu featuring popular Mandarin, Cantonese, Hunan and Shanghai dishes made especially for the Palm location.

Lao Sze Chuan will the seventh location of the Chicago-based restaurant and Hu's first Las Vegas restaurant. In addition to Chicago, Hu has restaurants in Downers Grove, Illinois, and Milford, Connecticut.

Hu is known as the "Mayor of Chinatown" in Chicago and has a solid reputation for providing traditional Sze Chuan cuisine with high-quality ingredients. Hu frequently travels to China to research culinary trends and continuously modifies the menu to reflect the latest in Chinese cuisine. He has more than 20 years of experience in the Chinese food industry.

The menu features more than 200 beef, chicken, pork and seafood options, along with a variety of soups, dim sum and will focus on traditional hot pots. There will also be popular dishes adapted to American tastes.

The Las Vegas restaurant will feature a stylish and open design that is unique to Las Vegas. The 150-seat restaurant is draped with various textiles, vibrant décor, high ceilings, chandeliers and traditional Chinese elements. Metallic gold and bold red accents highlight the casual venue, with eye-catching ceramic sculptures and culturally-inspired artwork adorning the space.

The restaurant will be open from 11:30 a.m. until 12 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Dim sum will be served from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily.
