Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- On Saturday, Aug. 9 you'll see a long line of people making their way from the Las Vegas Review-Journal to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.
The third annual Walk A Mile in My Shoes raises money for the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.
The mission provides 5,000 nights of shelter each month for the homeless in Las Vegas.
They are funded privately by members of our local community. This event is a fundraiser, but that's not the primary focus.
"It's more to bring awareness for what summer is like for those that have to fend for themselves in the street," said John Fogal from the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.
They do this event in August on purpose so people get a taste of the heat, and see what it feels like for many homeless individuals around the valley.
Organizers are hoping for 1,000 participants to start walking at 9 a.m.
