Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- There is a musician in each of us, whether we sing in our showers or plunk on the piano, music brings us joy. Now Matt Hennager is bringing that joy to the masses with free guitar lessons.
Eager learners pack the Sahara West Library on Sundays for the free lessons. Musicians of all ages who want to know how to make this instrument sing. "It's a great opportunity for people who just don't know anything about guitar. They want to know if it's right for them."
Matt Hennager started offering free guitar lessons about two years ago. Some of the students end up signing up for private lessons but his goal really is get music in the hands of everyone who's interested. "It's great. It's bringing music to the community and improving people's lives."
Neil Nelson agrees. He's learning to play with his son. "It was him. He's been begging for lessons for a while now. He's been trying to teach himself at home. It's been going slowly so he wanted lessons. I told him lets try this out first and see how he does."
In private lessons, Matt works with everyone from professional musicians to casual players who want to master a certain song. These free lessons are for beginners. But you never know what can happen once someone gets hooked. "The biggest thing about music is inspiring people. That's probably the biggest reason I do this. I want to get people inspired and get excited about it. That's the goal."
Matt offers the free three-week course at the Sahara West Library and the Green Valley Library. To find out when and where classes are offered, call (702) 533-3611 or log on to www.lasvegasguitarteacher.com
