Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- They say he's a bulldog: Gentle but stubborn. And those qualities are why the principal of Richard Bryan Elementary School is being recognized.
Principal Steve Piccininni walked into a staff meeting to a standing ovation. That's not the norm, but his staff wanted to celebrate with him.
Their principal was named Administrator of the Year by the Nevada PTA. Tammy Smith is the PTA president. "He'll take a pie in the face, dress up in a grass skirt or duck outfit. Whatever we make him do he'll take on that role to help us reach our goals. And I just felt he needed to be recognized."
For his part, Principal Piccininni is quick to share the recognition with his staff. "The staff works hard they don't complain. And they really gel together and has that do what it takes mentality. The staff is unique in that way."
Piccininni said he was completely shocked by the award. He insists there are many administrators who are just as deserving.
