Commonwealth, located in the Fremont East District in downtown Las Vegas, and the nationally-recognized Las Vegas rock band Otherwise are teaming up this week to raise funds and awareness for Second Chance Animal Rescue.

The event is happening from 8 to 10 p.m. Aug. 13. The free event (donations requested) will feature a live performance by Otherwise and a raffle with various prizes including a $50 Commonwealth bar tab and merchandise. Guests will also be able to take advantage of drink specials including domestic draft beers and well cocktails for $3 and craft draft beers, Ketel One cocktails, Crown Royal cocktails, Pavan lemonade and Pavan sangria for $5.

Whiskey cocktails from Coldcock Whiskey will also be available with part of the sales proceeds going to the animal hospital.

Second Chance Animal Rescue shelters and rehabilitates the homeless and abandoned animal of Las Vegas.

Otherwise, which is a hard alternative rock quintet, is currently promoting their new album "Peace At All Costs," which will hit the stores on Sept. 16.

Commonwealth was recently named "Best Las Vegas Cocktail Bar of the Year" by the 2014 Nightlife & Bar Awards. The swanky 6,000-square-foot cocktail bar is a collision of art and architectural influences inspired by pre-Prohibition era design and libations. It also features a backroom speakeasy known as The Laundry Room, which was recently included in Playboy's "Best Bars 2014" list.
