Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- When we think about feeding the hungry, helping our aging seniors isn't the first thing that comes to mind.
But America's mayors want to change all that, including Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. She helped deliver Meals on Wheels on Tuesday, as part of Mayors for Meals Day.
Currently the Catholic Charities program delivers 1,400 meals around the valley. But it's still not enough to go around.
There are 500 seniors on the waiting list.
"There are federal dollars that are made available but this is a wonderful community here in Las Vegas and we all need to be apart of helping," said Mayor Goodman.
These aren't cardboard meals that are being delivered. They are gourmet meals being prepared by a chef.
