National Check the Chip Day, where pet owners are encouraged to make sure their pet's microchips are registered with up-to-date owner contact information, is coming up.
The Animal Foundation is offering free microchipping to pet owners beginning on Aug. 15 through Aug. 24.
Mircohips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their family if they are lost or stolen, however the information is only accurate if contact information is up-to-date.
To update a pet's microchip information: Owners will need their pet's microchip number, create an account with the manufacturer (if haven't done so already), and make sure phone numbers and address is current and correct. To see which microchip in your pet, click here.
To microchip pets for free, visit The Animal Foundation's Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic (no appointment needed) at 655 North Mojave Road, Las Vegas on Monday through Friday, 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
