2014 summer events for kids in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- School is out, and you can help cure the kids' boredom by picking out a few of these fun activities for them to do over the summer.

Check out our list of summer events and programs for the kids happening around Las Vegas.

PROGRAMS

Advantage Basketball Camps
Your kids will grow and learn about more than basketball at an Advantage Basketball Camps' session. While they practice ball-handling, dribbling, and shooting, they will also learn about self-esteem, teamwork, and the value of hard work.

Bass Pro Shops
During the Family Summer Camp event, free workshops, which are conducted by experts, will be held every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday June 7 - July 13.  The entire family will enjoy learning the basics of camping, fishing, archery and hunting.  Other workshops include kayaking, water and travel safety, backyard adventures, and bird watching. 

Challenger Soccer Camp
A week long camp with a professional British Coaching staff- sessions designed for all ages and ability. 125,000 kids each year attend this camp across the country. Merryhill- Snowtrail Camp.

Create and Bounce Summer Camp
BounceU’s Create and Bounce is a camp program for kids ages 3 – 13 that give kids a chance to enjoy physical activity and creative time in equal doses, promoting healthy bodies and healthy minds in a fun, safe environment. 

Springs Preserve
Have a summer adventure at the Springs Preserve! They welcome just 60 campers per week, led by amazing counselors who really do know your name! It's YOUR time to explore, play and learn.

Sport-Social
Sport-Social empowers Las Vegas kids by teaching social skills through sports, music, the arts, and computers. They have an ABA trained staff that help children of all ages and abilities reach their full potential through social skills learning in our 10,000 Sq. Ft., air-conditioned facility. The facility is equipped with a skate park, basketball court, bounce house, arcade, music room, and more! They offer individualized, real-world social skills programs and private lessons in sports, music, art, and computers. All of their programs are designed to help your kids build self-confidence, learn how to make friends, and become the best versions of themselves!

Summer Reading Program
Just because summer is here, it doesn't mean kids should put down their books. The North Las Vegas Library District is inviting children and teens to take part in their annual Summer Reading Club.

Hollywood Kids Academy
Children ages 6-13 years old can get a small sample our amazing Triple Threat Programs in these five day summer workshops. Each child will develop their talents as Triple Threat Performers in Singing, Dancing and Acting. In keeping with Hollywood Kids Academy standards your child will learn songs, scenes and dances from the best of Disney and Broadway. They will end the week by performing what they have learned in a show for their parents, friends and family. 

YMCA
Enjoy all the Y has to offer for four full months! Water parks, wellness centers, exercise classes and more! Only $99 per individual or $199 per family. 

Ice Skating School
The Fiesta Rancho Sobe Arena is encouraging students to stay active by joining their Summer Fun on Ice program at Las Vegas Skate School.The summer course will be offered June 3 through July 29 and is open to students of all ages.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas
By helping youth achieve academic success, commit to a healthy lifestyle, and demonstrate good character and citizenship, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada is uniquely positioned to help ensure great futures for our nation’s young people. 

Discovery Children's Museum
Bring your curiosity and sense of wonder as you join Museum educators for fun activities that focus on science, art and more. There’s something for everyone at DISCOVERY Children’s Museum! Sessions will be offered in the morning (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.)and afternoon (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) Weekly camp sessions are offered for two age groups: 6 to 9 years, and 10 to 12 years.

Plant World Nursery Hosts Free Kid’s Flower Potting Sessions
Plant World Nursery, the longest establishment for Las Vegas’ gardening and landscaping needs, introduces a free monthly kid’s flower potting session beginning Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Open to all children ages 3 to 12, children will have the opportunity to plant various types of seeds that they will be able to take home and nurture, while their parents have the convenience to shop for gardening needs. June 21, July 19 and August 16.

UNLV Computer Camps
Our summer technology programs for kids and teens are held at over 80 prestigious universities throughout the U.S., including University of Nevada, Las Vegas. For teens ages 13-18, we also offer intensive 2-week, pre-college iD Tech Academies at select universities. A maximum of 8 students per instructor for personalized learning, and use the best brand name products from industry leaders like Adobe®, Apple®, Autodesk®, Google, and Microsoft®. ACTIVITIES

Adventuredome
Kids can enjoy a day out at the Adventuredome. Regular Pass $29.95 (48 inches tall or taller)Junior Pass $16.95 (Under 48 inches tall) The park has also debuted the El Loco, Las Vegas' newest ride.

Cowabunga Bay
Cowabunga Bay will be opening for the first in Las Vegas June 15. The water park will feature a variety of water slides, food and fun for the entire family. Cowabunga Bay is located in Henderson east of the Galleria Mall. All Cowabunga Bay’s water slides and attractions are included in the price of admission. Free tubes and life jackets are also included!

County Pools
County water parks feature twisting slides, gushing fountains, play areas, zero-depth entry for young swimmers, and shade on the pool deck. 

King Putt Mini Golf
