The Florida Department of Transportation had just released video of a SunRail train colliding with a car in Maitland, Fla., on Monday. In the dramatic video, you see the driver of the car get out just seconds before the train hits the vehicle, sending debris visibly flying in the video. (Watch it above.)
The incident happened just as the train was approaching the Maitland station in Central Florida. It was traveling about 35 mph at the moment of impact.
As WPTV West Palm Beach, Fla.
, reports, “The driver had just purchased a stick shift car and was trying to shift gears when she said the vehicle stalled on the tracks. The train's engineer tried to stop but couldn't slow down fast enough before impact.”
“The driver of the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries from flying debris,” WPTV reports. “No one on the train was hurt … Investigators said the incident was the woman's fault, and she was issued a ticket.”
