Henderson, NV (KTNV) -- Issues with cleanliness and food handling lead to the closure of a Henderson restaurant.
The restaurant had food sitting out at the wrong temperatures, cooked and raw chicken, cooked zucchini and noodles not properly cooled.
These are just some of the problems that led to the 54 demerit closure of the Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant on Warm Springs and Arroyo Grande.
Anything more than 40 demerits equals an automatic closure.
The inspection report from the Southern Nevada Health District said they couldn't find one thermometer for restaurant staff to properly check food temperatures. The report also said the person in charge had no knowledge of cooking temperatures or procedures for cooling food.
They also found utensils and equipment with dried food debris. The floor and other surfaces covered with grease and food build up.
Plus, a sink was not properly sanitized before it was used for food preparation.
Health inspectors also found household insect spray and rodent traps. Facilities are required to use professional exterminators.
And it was discovered two cooks were working without valid health district food handler cards.
When Action News visited the restaurant, we were told no one was available to speak with us. So we left our contact information but never heard back from anyone.
The health district said Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant has cleaned up its act. They were reinspected on June 7 and are now operating with a zero demerit A grade.
