Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The restaurant you're about to enter has the record for oldest food ever found in a kitchen on Dirty Dining.
Chief Investigator Darcy Spears has the pictures to prove it.
We've just walked inside Amanecer Salvadoreno on Main Street and Wyoming.
It's open now, but recently, it wasn't.
The employee who came to greet us says there's no one there who speaks English, and she wonders if we really have to do our story.
Employee: Es necessario?
Darcy: Yeah, we do have to do this. Because every week we do Dirty Dining on the restaurant that gets the worst report from the Health District and this time around it was you guys. 47 demerits. Shut down.
The employee saw that we meant business, called the owner, and handed Darcy the phone.
Darcy on phone: Uh oh! You're saying uh oh?
He tells us he's only available to talk over the phone.
He acknowledges having black mold and slime on the soda nozzles, in the ice machine, and on the caulking at the three-compartment sink, but says that's all cleaned up now.
But that wasn't the worst thing inspectors found.
Darcy: There's a whole bunch of expired food. There was stuff that dated back to 2011 in your kitchen. 2011! There was stuff from 2012. There was bleu cheese dressing from January of this year.
And yes, bleu cheese is made from mold, but three-month-old dressing is pushing it.
Inspectors found expired queso from Halloween of 2011.
Nestea and Minute-Maid from 2012.
There were also plantains, enchilada meat and ground pork that were all more than a week old.
Raw potatoes that were not wholesome.
And you have to see the spice containers to believe the condition they're in.
Darcy on phone with owner: The spices were just filthy. I don't know if you've seen the Health District's pictures, but it did not look good.
Inspectors found improper hand-washing -- one employee didn't even bother to use soap.
There was built-up food debris on kitchenware.
And plastic, grocery-style t-shirt bags and trash bags were being re-used to hold things like raw meat and other potentially hazardous foods.
To their credit, Amanecer Salvadoreno cleaned up their act quickly.
They were reinspected two days after shut down, and re-opened with an A grade and zero demerits.
